‘No undue benefit extended to contractor’
ITANAGAR, Nov 9: “No any extra financial benefit was given to the contractor and the payment was made on actual quantity of work executed,” said Dumporijo PWD division executive engineer today. The EE clarified that ‘formation cutting of the road was done by deployment of advance machineries like falkland, excavator, improved bulldozers, which can excavate various types of rocks using less quantity of blasting materials. Thus the quantities paid to contractors were proportionate to the excavated rocks requiring blasting operation and no undue benefit was given to contractors.’ He further said that in the formation cutting works VAT items were not involved.

Slow Loris rescued, released in Zoo
ITANAGAR, Nov 09: A male Slow Loris (Nycticebus coucang) locally known as ‘Bedang Royee’ was rescued from Besar Nallo area under Sangdupota circle of Papum Pare district today by Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) Spokesperson Hina Camdir Tok.
The rescued animal has been handed over to Itanagar Zoo authority for rehabilitation and conservation, according to Itanagar Zoo authority.

ITANAGAR, Nov 9: Totpu Panchayat Youth Welfare Society, (TPYWS) has appealed to the Sagalee ADC to depute official team to assess the damages in agricultural field caused by rodent under Totpu Panchayat area.

TAWANG, Nov 09: A farmer’s training on scientific cultivation practices of apples, specially training and pruning in different stages of the crop, was conducted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK),Tawang at Khrimu village today.
The subject matter specialists in Horticulture and Plant Protection dwelt at length on scientific cultivation, pest and disease management of apples.
Altogether 25 farmers participated in the training including horticulture field assistant.

The Technical Officer (Agromet) inspected the disease infested rice fields and advised the farmers to take up preventive measures on community basis on the rice fields where the crops are not yet ready for harvest. He advised the farmers to harvest the matured crops immediately without any delay.
The team distributed pea, rapeseed and maize under ATMA sponsored scheme to those farmers, who have incurred heavy loss due to rice crop damage as compensatory measure.

EoA office ransacked, associate editor assaulted
ITANAGAR, Nov 9: In yet another press assault incident this evening, the office of Echo of Arunachal newspaper was ransacked and its associate editor Tapan Das was physically assaulted by a group of people. Later Tapan was taken to RKM Hospital for treatment.
The group destroyed four computers and door of the office. Such was audacity of the attacker that one hour later they again telephoned in Echo Office during full police presence and threatened Echo Office management of severe consequence if they lodge an FIR against the attacker. At the time of incident, two police constables were deputed at Echo Office but they went missing during the incident.
Meanwhile, the Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalist and Arunachal Press Club have termed the incident as a slap on the face of state government and capital police. “The incident shows that law and order has completely broken down in the capital. In the last six months repeated attack on press persons and media houses took place in capital. The police and state government failed to achieve any success in this regard,” the APWUJ and APC stated in a release.
An FIR has been lodged with Itanagar police station. The members of two organizations will hold a meeting tomorrow and decide further course of action.

District level chess championship
ITANAGAR, Nov 09: The first ever district level chess championship of Papum Pare began at Naharlagun today.
Young and budding chess players from entire district are participating in the championship in various categories. Illegal claim of land ownership in Gutin RF alleged

RUKSIN, Nov 09: Allegation of illegal claims of ‘Private Land Ownership (Morang)’ in Reserve Forest (RF) area under Ruksin forest range (T) has created an unpleasant atmosphere at Ruksin area attracting the attention of the civil administration here.
It is alleged that a section of local villagers led by their Head Gaon Burah (HGB) are claiming private land ownership in Gutin RF and even selling some parts of forest land to other individuals. They say the forest Department; despite of knowing the facts is keeping mum over the issue.
The Gaon Burahs from Debing and other nearby villages lodged a complaint with East Siang Deputy Commissioner and Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Pasighat, alleging that Debing HGB Yon Yomso and his accomplices are claiming private land ownership on forest land in Gutin RF and also instigating others to do so. Alleging that the HGB is violating all standing rules of the forest department, the complainant letter urged the administration to take legal step against the HGB for his alleged misdeed/miscoucts.
The common people of the area are insisting the authority to keep the hillsides and down plain areas for public usage.

Inquiry has revealed that the Pasighat DFO had served a notice to the HGB, Panchayat members and secretary of Debing village on June 18 this year, urging them not to claim of ownership in Gutin RF. It was clearly mentioned in the notice that except an area of 50 hectare of land left for Mane village community, the claimed area falls in Gutin RF.
“No provision is kept in the notification of RF declaration for claiming ownership inside the forest area. Claim of land ownership or any other right in the RF will not be entertained and any act done in the said area without prior permission from the competent authority shall attract provision of Forest Law for the time being in force and action will be taken against him for violation of Forest Protection Acts”, the DFO warned in the notice.

Addressing the gathering of PRI members, HoDs of Lower Subansiri district and the public, he advised the public to cooperate with the elected representatives for all round development. “It is the time now to forget our political differences and join hands together to make our state a forerunner in developmental activities”, he said.
Saaya appealed to all the villagers to avail maximum benefit from existing agriculture, horticulture and fishery programs and stressed on adopting tourism avenues for livelihood by not just depending on govt. white color job and contract works. He assured full cooperation in agriculture allied schemes and invited innovative and dedicated minds to help the villagers. He also advised the younger generation to focus on education and become valuable assets for the village and the society as a whole.
While responding to the three points memorandum submitted by the village representatives, he assured to take up RLR from Yazali to Jop Silango via Takampossa and Yoizath and informed the public that Rs 80 lakhs has been earmarked for the same. Water supply at Pekirpossa and Yoizath, Rs 5 lakhs each for AFA quarters, 5 lakhs each for MIP have also been sanctioned, he announced. He also donated 1.5 lakhs for a public toilet at Yoizath and games and sports equipments for the school. DIPRO.

Ensure uninterrupted power supply
Dear Editor,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I on behalf of the Hapoli Bazar Committee Ziro would like to appeal the Lower Subansiri deputy commissioner to provide 24 hours uninterrupted power supply in and around Ziro valley during AAPSU election.
Irregular supply of power may create difficulties for AAPSU delegates who are attending the election. Besides, security measures taken up by the police will also be hampered if regular power supply is not ensured.
We also like to request the DC to ban dice during the Diwali festival scheduled on Nov 13 from the security point of view.
